Gators Big V Wrap Up – Round 7
Coach Kate’s Youth League Gator Women’s team are back in the winner’s circle beating the Diamond Valley Eagles comfortably.
Early on it was the combination of Cassie Dodemaide and Raini Matthews being the main facilitators for the Gators both defensively and offensively. It did not take long for Esta Rare to catch fire with a delightful 18 Points, 11 Rebounds, 7 Assists, and 3 Steals.
The icing on the cake for the Gators was seeing the two young debutants Maya Barnes and Evelyn Martyn have some great moments with a few Points and Rebounds each.
The Senior Gator Women unfortunately with a tough loss this time to the Chelsea Gulls. Finding themselves trailing throughout most of the game the Gators tried to get back into the contest but the Gulls proved too strong in the end.
Monique Marcetic Vaotangi leading all scorers for the Gators with 17 Points, she also had 3 Rebounds and 3 Assists. Shout out to Trinity Steele who had 7 Assists.
A brilliant 7-1 record sees the Senior Gator Men stay in 2nd spot as they beat the Wallan Panthers on Saturday night. A close first half but then our Gators started to get going as they got out to a 10 Point lead in the 3rd quarter and holding on in the final term.
The battery was charged as Adam Anderson finished the game with 26 Points. Nicholas Patel is having a brilliant season and in this game he was a stat machine with 11 Points, 17 Rebounds, 9 Assists and 3 Steals.
Both Youth League Gator teams were on the road away to Bendigo on Sunday to take on the Braves.
The Youth League Women fell short to the Braves in what coach Coffey described as an “epic battle”. Hopefully the Gator Girls can respond next round at home on Saturday night against Knox.
Another rough game and result for the Youth League Men as they lost to the Braves. Bendigo got out to an early start against our Gator Boys and were hard to catch throughout the game.
Hope to see all you Gator fans at the Swamp on Saturday Night and again on Sunday Afternoon for our Mother’s Day Special.
