Gators Big V Results & Wrap-Up Round 7

Hey Gator Fans,

Another very successful weekend of Basketball for our Big V Gator Senior Teams!

Our Gators Youth League Men triumphed over Coburg Giants in a hard fought encounter winning 98-87.

Jake Afoa was instrumental in the win with 26 Points, 18 Rebounds and 2 Steals. He was well supported by Hamish Goodier who finished with 23 Points, 9 Rebounds and 3 Assists. Marach Marach continued his consistent form with 14 Points and 6 Rebounds.

The Gator Youth League Men have a big weekend ahead, playing Sherbrooke Suns away on Saturday night and then returning to the Altona Stadium on Sunday to take on Bendigo Braves at Noon. They look forward to a big crowd coming down to cheer them on.

Our Gators Victorian Youth Championship Women secured their third consecutive win beating Southern Sabres on Saturday afternoon 73-51.

Trinity Steele had an outstanding all round game with 15 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Steals and 2 Blocks. Alicia Sciberras and Aseka Ratnayake both scored 12 Points. In a team effort all players hit the score board to consolidate the team’s standing on the top half of the ladder.

This week in Round 8 the Gators Youth League Women travel to the State Basketball Centre to take on Knox Raiders.

Our Senior Gator Men defeated Melton Thoroughbreds for the second time this year with an 82-70 win against the Thoroughbreds.

After Melton took out the first quarter, the Men regrouped and outscored Melton in the second quarter by 15 Points to set up the win. Jovan Bojanic led all scorers with 20 Points. He was well supported by Dut Dut with 17 Points, Samson Rocker and Tyson Burton with 14 Points each, Tyson also picked up 11 Rebounds. Zachary Polglaze also dominated the boards with 15 Rebounds. The Gator Senior Men have a big weekend of basketball ahead.

On Saturday night they take on Mornington Breakers at Altona Stadium tip-off at 7:30pm. They then need to back up and play Maccabi Warriors away Sunday. Make sure you come down and support Jordan and the Senior Men on Saturday Night to assist them start off their big weekend with a Win.

Our Senior Gator Women had something that very rarely occurs in the world of basketball, a week off.

The Senior Women look to keep their Undefeated 7-0 winning streak alive in a top of the ladder clash against RMIT Redbacks on Sunday at 2pm at Altona Stadium.

The Senior Women need the support of the entire Gator’s family in this all important clash.
