Gators Big V Results Wrap Up – Round 4

Returning on a High out of the Easter Break, the Senior Gators Women got a strong Win at Home on Saturday Night to open up Round 4 at The Swamp. A great debut from Bree Matthews with some incredible handles, and quick classy moments in a solid team performance from our Lady Gators. With 27 Offensive Rebounds it told the story of the night reflecting the Gators hard work on missed shots to get the ball back and create other scoring opportunities.

Girl Power continued at The Swamp on Sunday as our Youth League Women started our Triple Header brilliantly overrunning the Frankston Blues. The Gators took a 29 Point lead at Half-time but an outstanding team performance in the 3rd Quarter where the Gators out scored Frankston 24-7 ensured the game was theirs. Finishing the game 48 Point Winners. Pure dominance right across the floor from the Gators and a Star that Shined Bright was Esta Rarere with 24 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 3 Steals and 2 Blocks.

Our Youth League Men showed heart as they took on the Ladder Leaders Hume Broncos on Sunday afternoon. The Gators dug deep, but unfortunately couldn’t come home with the Win. Gators Captain Kurt Butler with 20 points was a major highlight for the team, however the Broncos were the stronger side showing their depth as five players hit the scoreboard in the double digits. Hopefully our Gator boys can grab their first win of the season on Saturday night against the Collingwood All Stars.

Rounding out our Sunday Triple Header, the Senior Gator Men found themselves down by eight points at the end of the first quarter against the Maccabi Warriors but they hit straight back in the second quarter which set up a close contest in the second half. Tyson Burton after a huge weekend off the Court last week returned with a bang dropping 19 Points along with 8 Rebounds and 4 Blocks. Making both crucial free throws late in the game Captain Thomas Georgiadis wrapped this one up for Altona in what was a thrilling win at home.
