BIG V Basketball is Back – Here is your Gators Recap – Round 1!
Our Senior Womenโs picked up where they left off last season with a strong Gator outfit on the road beating the Craigieburn Eagles by 20 points. A variety of Gator Players contributing to the scoreboard as the Gators had a strong second half and closed the game out well.
The Youth League Men opened up their 2023 season on Saturday night at the Swamp against the Bulleen Boomers. Despite the dominance in transition by the Boomers our Gators started to get into a rhythm in the second quarter and throughout the game youngster Lachlan Shields provided some energetic moments as a spark plug for his team. In the end the Gators lost but they look to bounce back and get their first win of the season on the road against Sherbrooke Suns.
A Sunday Gators Double Header at The Swamp saw our Senior Women return for their first Home Game of the Season. The Mildura Heat certainly tested our Gators who worked really hard to fight back in this game and keep it close but in the 4th quarter the Heat were just too strong especially through veteran Vanessa Power who scored 27 points leading all scorers.
Our Second Sunday Home Game had our Senior Men cooking against the Mildura Heat. Finding themselves down by a few points early, the Gators needed to respond quickly and they did outscoring the Heat in all four quarters of the game and getting a dominant win.
The Gators shot the lights out from downtown with 14 Three Pointers and closed this game out strongly. Samson Rocker, Trent Cousins and Thomas Georgiadis with 4 Threes each and Nicholas Patel with a huge game finishing with 14 Rebounds, 9 Assists, 10 Points and 4 Steals.
The Gator Youth League Women opened their Season on a high with a huge road win against the Nunawading Spectres. A close First Half had a few thinking this one was coming down to the wire but our Gators dominated in the Second Half outscoring the Spectres 48-17.
Alicia Sciberras had a Great Double-Double with 26 Points and 17 Rebounds alongside Esta Rarere who chipped in with 18 Points, 8 Rebounds and 8 Assists.
