U12-1 Boys Coach Brett & Assistant Tim
The Grand Final match will be the fourth encounter that these two teams have had this season, with the Altona 12.1 Boys coming away with 8 point win in the most recent encounter in the 1st Semi Final match 56-48. The previous games during the season had Surf Coast 12.1 Boys winning our first encounter together 47-43 in Torquay, with the Gators 12.1 Boys returning the favour in our home game winning 52-35. The two teams are very closely matched, so it is sure to be a very action pack game with both teams having good player depth the ability to find the basket regularly. It is likely to be a battle of the defences, and who can best contain the opposing team to be able to get the win. With the Gators 12.1 boys finishing the season with only one loss (to Surf Coast) for the season, the Grand Final game is within their grasp. #Go Gators.
U12-3 Girls Coach Zoe
We consistently challenge the Wyndham team, with only 1 – 2 points difference in our last 2 match ups. Our girls have demonstrated ongoing individual and team development throughout the season. I am looking forward to our girls playing their best team game and finishing the season feeling proud of their achievements.
U16-1 Boys Coach Daniel
“Encounters against Craigieburn this year; 1st encounter was a 20 point loss, 2nd encounter was a 13 point loss and the 3rd encounter -was a 24 point win. Looking forward to the tough contest that Craigieburn will bring. Also looking forward to the opportunity of putting on a show for the Altona Gators familyΒ and the VJBL community watching on! GO GATORS!!”
U18-2 Girls Coach Antonio
The 18.2 Girls have had a wonderful season, competing in every grand final that they have entered this season with only 7 players in their team. We have played Nunawading 18.3βs on several occasions throughout the season during tournaments, crossover games and the regular season. The results have been varied, with each game being fought out with a competitive spirit, learning new information about the skills and strategies of our opponents each match.
In our latest encounter, the semi-final clash, we went down by 3points in a hard-fought battle. We didnβt play our best on that occasion, giving us extra determination to attack the game to ultimately change the result in the Grand Final. Letβs hope the purple and yellow army can get behind us and bring home the win.
U18-2 Boys Coach Jason
The 18.2 Boys will meet the 18.2 Whittlesea Pacers in this Friday nightβs grand final.Β The Gators boys have had a strong second half of the season finishing with 6 straight wins in the regular season, and weβve carried that form through the finals needing to win all of our games to progress through each week.
Weβve met the Pacers two times previously this season with Gators taking both victories.Β The first a tough fought 3 point win at home, the second, a better result in the last round of regular season taking a 20 point victory.Β We are expecting a very competitive game from Whittlesea Friday night, weβll need to work in defense and execute well in offense to set ourselves up for a final win for the season.
