Altona Gators BIG V Recap – ROUND 4

The Gators Youth League Women triumphed over Sunbury Jets 80-70 in a hard fought encounter. Trinity Steele starred for the Gators with 21 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Alicia Sciberras scored 15 points with 12 of those coming from beyond the arc. Cassie Dodemaide earned herself a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Gators Senior Women beat Blackburn Vikings 70-61 in a close contest. Sharna Appleby earned herself a third Big V Blue Carpet Player of the Round Award for the year (after 4 rounds) with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. Jessica Rarity added 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. It was a team effort with everyone in the team hitting the score board.
After four rounds, the Gators Senior Women remain undefeated.

The Gators Youth League Men lost to a formidable Camberwell Dragons side. After a strong start by Camberwell, the Gators Youth League Men fought back to win the final quarter. Jake Afoa again led the way scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds for the match. He was supported Jai Tippet and Akhuar Akhuar.

The Gators Senior Men were without key players Samson Rocker, Tyson Burton and Thomas Georgiadis for their road trip to take on Gippsland United. The Gators Men went down 74 to 92. Jovan Bojanic led the way for the Gator’s Men with 19 points. He was strongly supported by Diquan Williams with 18 points and Zachary Polglaze 17 points and 15 rebounds.

ANZAC WEEKEND GATORS BIG V HOME GAMES:

While ANZAC day falls on the Monday 25th April, Altona Gators BIG V Teams are partnering with the Altona RSL to commemorate and pay our respects for ANZAC Day at the weekends BIG V Home Games to be played on 23rd & 24th April 2022.

We are honoured to be joined by members of the Altona RSL who will speak to our Gators Players, Coaches and Attendees at the games.

Funds will be raised for the Altona RSL and we encourage attendees to show their support. We encourage you to bring your friends and family to support this worthy cause.

Saturday 23rd April:
Gators Youth League Men vs Coburg Giants – game tip off at 6pm
Gators Senior Men vs Sherbrooke Suns – game tip off at 8pm

Sunday 24th April:
Gators Youth League Women vs Ballarat Rush – game tip off at 12pm
Gators Senior Women vs Corio Bay Stingrays – game tip off at 2pm
