Altona Gators BIG V Results Wrap Up β Round 16
The Camberwell Dragons were too strong for our Altona Youth League Gator boys on Saturday night. The Dragons outscoring the Gators throughout the entire match definitely saw them be the dominant side picking up a nice victory on the road. For the Gators it was great to see Kurt Butler back in action as he had 17 Points and 6 Rebounds.
It was Watson table vs. Terril table up in Keilor as the Gators snapped at the Thunder with a brilliant victory. The Vic Champ Youth Women now one game clear on top of the Ladder with 16 Wins for the Season. Two Gators having a strong Double-Double including Alicia Sciberras and Raini Matthews. Sciberras had a thunder strike of her own with 5 Steals, 1 Block, 11 Rebounds, and 23 Points. Matthews was equally as impressive and got herself a mention on the BIG V Blue Carpet with 25 Points, 11 Rebounds, 5 Assists, and 3 Steals. Shout out to Aseka Ratnayke who had 18 Points and Mary-Rose Yap with 10 Points. Both of these players were efficient and were 62.5% from the field.
It was Gators on tour for both Senior Gator Teams who took on the Mildura Heat on the long road trip to Mildura. The Men without Adam Anderson (rested) struggled to find an Offensive spark early which lead to the opposition βheatingβ up on the scoreboard and getting out to a 15 Point lead. Credit to the Gators who kept fighting and eventually managed to take the lead going into the last quarter. The Heat eventually getting over the line in the end in 4 Point Win being the stronger side in the 4th Quarter and picking up a big win at home.
Trying her hardest on the defense end Kayla Salmons block party of five was accompanied with 18 Points and 11 Rebounds. Unfortunately it wasnβt enough to stop the Mildura Heat as they outscored the Gators 31 β 20 in the 4th Quarter and pulled off a great comeback. Tough loss for the Gators which now sees them fall to sixth position on the Ladder.
See you at The Swamp on Saturday Night and on Sunday Afternoon for our Double Header. Last Round of the Regular Season, and last Home Games before finals!
