Gators BIG V Wrap Up – Grand Final Game 1 Results

Sunday afternoon at The Swamp we held Game 1 of the Grand Final best of three series for our Senior Gator Women against Mornington Breakers.

It was a back-and-forth 1st quarter between the Gators and the Breakers with some great defence on both sides. In the 2nd and 3rd quarters the Breakers started to get a solid grip on the game and pulled away leading by 18 points and extending that lead later in the game.

Unfortunately for our girls, we saw Mornington take out the first game of the Grand Final series.

Despite the loss for the Gators, Sharna Appleby had a nice game with 18 points and Jess Rarity had a double double, 13 points and a huge 17 rebounds.

The Gator girls showed great fight in the end with a limited bench, as the crowd rallied behind them.

The Gator Women will put this one in the bank, learn from it and prepare for Game 2 of the Grand Final to keep their finals campaign alive.

Grand Final Game 2 will be held at the Mornington Basketball Stadium on Saturday night at 6:30pm.
